I am inching my way into political activisim. I firmly believe in standing up for your rights, and in not just sitting back and moping about what's going on instead of trying to change it.
I am going to vote.
I am going to write my congresspeople and the President.
I am going to see what groups are active in my area.
I am going to stay vocal.
I am going to do my best to be a good example, i.e., no frothing at the mouth or making the rest of 'my group' (whoever the heck that is) look like a bunch of moronic idiots.
I am going to ask people what I can do, bearing in mind that what I have a lot of is time, as opposed to money or even ability to get to places.
When I actually have money and the ability to get myself and/or others to places, I will also contribute those.
I believe in equal rights for everyone. I believe that as long as you're not infringing on someone else's rights, what you do is your own business. I believe in taking responsibility for one's actions. I believe that people should realize that there are consequences to everything that they do. I believe that whenver and wherever it is reasonably possible, they should know what those consequences are.
The above pretty much sums up my political beliefs. I'm not really sure where or how I'm going to start, but I'm going to work on that letter to officials, and I'm going to go get registered to vote.

Good for you
