Polite Smack

For the record, there is no one incident or person that has sparked this. No, really. This has been going on for most of at least a year, and Mistress Mousie has finally had enough.

I am an adult. I can, and do make thought-out decsions. I happen to more often than not be friendly, open, and generally easy to get along with. This does not make me a doormat, nor does it make a foolish person.

I try very hard to find common ground, and to compromise. This does not make me weak. This is not an invitation to keep pushing at me until I give. I try very hard to see all sides of a point. I also try very hard to not fall into the 'my way is the only right way', or 'I know the right way, and anything else is wrong' traps of thinking. This does not mean that if you keep hamering at your viewpoint in my face for long enough, and often enough, that I am going to concede. It means that I am going to tell you that that is your opinion, and that it differs from mine. I reserve the right to point to any and all evidence that I have collected to point out where you might have made an error, though. For the record, you reserve the same right to point out errors that I have made.

Bear-Cub, Puppy, and Phooka are my daughters. There is no room for argument with me on this one. warinbear is my husband in all but law. There is no room for argument with me on this one, either. I am a member of this family, with all the rights and responsibilities that that entails. Nope, no argument room on that one.

Why moonstaff rocks

1. She loves life.
2. She's open and warm, and friendly.
3. Not only is she willing to give advice, she gives good advice.
4. She's Pagan, and she doesn't Christian-Bash.
5. She's willing to stand up for her kids.
6. She's someone that I would love to meet in RL.
7. She writes lovely poetry.
8. She does the Spice! web-comic, which is kickin' all by its lonesome.

Why griffen rocks

1. He's willing to do a lot to be true to himself.
2. He understands math. I have have trouble once you get past the basics, so this is just amazing to me.
3. He cares about people.
4. He's willing to ask for reality checks.
5. He stands up for himself more often than not.
6. "Killer of Sacred Cows". I don't know if I can explain this one, but I love that title.
7. He gives fundies much needed verbal thwackage.
8. He offered emotional support at a time when I needed it very badly. January of 2001.
9. He has a good sense of humour.
10. He's someone I want to meet in real life.
11. He keeps going. Life has not been kind to him lately, but he hasn't thrown the towel in when so many others would have.
12. He's willing to learn.

And Now the Not-So-Polite Smack

Okay, earlier was me being polite and vague. After almost more than a year of this shit, though, a really good rant is in order.

For the record, Warin, Catchild, Jon, and Louis are not even on the radar with this rant. This is nothing that they have done or said. And I'm not even trying to be polite. You don't like it? That's your tough shit, and your problem, not mine.
