Good News: We are 9/10 of the way out of the apartment.

Bad News: A pipe under the sink in the downstairs bathroom burst, flooding the ground floor of all four apartments in that building.

Attatched Good News: It wasn't the toilet. (Again. *That* one backed up badly while we were still living there, and I've never seen my guys move so fast as they did while they were containing the backup to the bathroom.)

Good News: The only stuff downstairs was mostly washable, water resistant, or up on counters or the remaining table/desks. (Said desks were going straight to the dumpster when we were finished using them as platforms anyways.)

Quick-Thinking News: Rapidly emtying wet cardboard boxes on this end, and discovering that one of the boxes had adult mags in it. (I think it came from Warin's closet; he emptied his former bedroom into the apartment living room yesterday.) Magazines are stacked on a towel on the floor, uspide down. Mostly Playboys, so we have innocuous advertisements showing. Granted, it's not like Playboy covers really show anything *anyway*, but I am taking the safer route on this. Since they're Warin's, I'll ask him to move them into his room once he's back and non-red.

Kind-of Good News: Well, we don't have to clean the downstairs in the apartment anymore. 'Least, not the floors. Downstairs carpet is getting pulled at the least, maybe upstairs as well if they can't get matching swatches. I'm pretty sure that one way or the other, we're not cleaning the kitchen or utility room floors, either. If it comes down to it (and I don't know if it will; Susan the apartment manager is a Good Person) we'll hire someone to finish cleaning in there. 'Course, it may wind up totally out of our hands if the repairs run past July 21st, our official move-out date.

Amazing Freaking Lucky Good News: We almost didn't look for a house earlier this year. This pipe would have burst anyway. Our computers and most of the books and so on was all downstairs while we were living there. Very tightly crowded downstairs, too. But, Louis and I got an itch that looking for a house was a Really Good Idea (tm), and Warin was okay with it, so we looked.

-thud- That could've been so much worse. Tired, slightly achy, and needing to do a lot of laundry Right Now is miles above having to call the insurance company and log massive water damage.
