So, I have this Orcish Warlock in WoW. This is not a description of her stats, gear, or talent tree. This is instead her history.
Kallika barely remembers her parents. They were of the Warsong Clan, and fell prey to the demonic corruption. They died fighting the night-elves. Kallika was one of the lucky Warsong orphans, though. She was raised by her older sister, who had elected to go with Thrall's forces because of her overwhelming curiosity about the Tauren.
Kallika began to show magical potential as she approached puberty. She also developed a fascination for plants, and all the uses they could be put to. Under normal circumstances, she would have been a prime candidate for a shaman trainee. Her sister was in fact discussing the possibility of an apprenticeship with the village shaman when Kallika changed her circumstances drastically.
Unsatisfied with her sister's refusal to explain much about their parents' death, Kallika had been digging up all the information she could. A few days before her 12th birthday, she finally managed to pry the full story of the Warsong from a veteran that had been a few feet from her parents when they fell. The vet, full of his own bitterness, spared no details of what had led to the great clan's disgrace. His anger at the Burning Legion, as well as his own frustration at being unable to avenge himself upon them (he had lost both legs and an eye in the fight that claimed Kallika's parents) were infectious, and the young girl swiftly came to share his feelings.
Enraged at the thought that the demons should so easily escape retribution, Kallika pried from the veteran every detail he had ever seen surrounding them, including how they had been summoned. On her 12th birthday, Kallika drew a circle, and managed (through a combination of sheer luck, rage, and natural talent) to summon the weakest of demonlings. It was weaker than even the smallest of imps, and this was probably the only reason that the child survived the experience.
Kallika proudly hauled her captive before the village Elders the next day, demanding that it pay for the crimes of the Legion. To say that they were shocked would be a considerable understatement. What to do with the demon was an easy enough matter; the village's Shaman simply killed it outright. What to do with the child was much more complicated. After several days of arguing (and over the strident protests of her sister) they sent Kallika the Valley of Trials for training.
Kallika is proud, even for an orc. Her hatred for the Burning Legion knows no bounds, and the demons that she summons do not tend to survive for long. The first lessons of her village shaman still stick with her, however, and she has great respect for the natural order. She believes with all her heart in the tribal philosophies of the Horde, and puts her skills with plants to good use among the sick and elderly. It is her hope that the path of the warlock will give her the knowledge and power necessary to someday directly challenge the might of the Burning Legion.
