Family Meetings and Projects
Jan. 5th, 2004 03:37 pmWe've been having family meetings once a month for half a year now. They're a very effective way of keeping the family going smoothly, making sure that issues get addressed well before they reach the critical mass point They're also a way of keeping track of how we're doing on our Project Book.
See, we put together a list of all the stuff we need or want to get done over the next five or so years. Then we prioritized it like so: ASAP, High, Medium High, Medium, Low Medium, Low. Then we set the time we need/want to get each thing done by/within. For example, setting up a vehicle maintenance fund is listed as MH, 6 months. It's a pretty long list, with some of the stuff on there listed in the five year range. However, we have started on it.
warinbear and I have a new bed now, baby gates have been purchased and installed, the bookshelves have been built, the well house has been insulated, we've got the first of three loads of gravel towards reapairing the driveway, and most of the crap has been cleared away from in front of the small house, preparatory to putting up a flood-wall in front of the house.
It's a very satisfying feeling, being able to look at the list and see the progress that has and is being made.
