Yesterday was swallowed whole by the game that I am running. For those of you that have played the computer games Avernum/Exile, my game is set in that world. Timewise, the party is about a month or two (gametime) away from being hired to explore the surface. So, about two months before where Ruined World starts.
The party is third level now, and consists of:
A male human Psion/Cleric/Wizard, who is looking at being a very good craftsman, and is a spellfire wielder.
A female human Monk/Sorcerer, who is blind and has a fire-bat as a familiar.
A male halfling Paladin/Monk, who is a spellfire wielder, and faster than the average halfling.
A female nephilim (catfolk) Rogue/Fighter/Sorcerer, who has a storm owl familiar, as well as:
A male human Rogue/Psychic Warrior, who is quite happy to be a catperson's pet, 'cause she's treating him better than he's ever been treated before in his life.
All this in an underground world setting. I'm insane, I'm nuts, I'm enjoying this way more than I thought I'd be, and the amazing thing (to me) is that the players are giving every sign of enjoying themselves immensely as well.
By the time they've gained another few levels though, they're gonna be paranoid about anything even remotely arachnid. Did you know that the Monster Manual gives stats for spiders all the way up to Colossal size? -insert evil grin here- I can plague them with spiders for a long time, and it'll still be a challenge worthy of them!
That's what you get for pissing off a drider.
