Watched 'Thirteen Ghosts' last night. It was a pretty good movie. There was just one problem.
I went to bed at about 11. I got back out around midnight, when I had not only failed to go to sleep, but I had also caught a whiff of my own fear-sweat. Fear has a very distinctive stink to it, and I decided that it was time to go get a glass of Coke and play Pharaoh on the computer for a while. I went back to bed around 1, and fell asleep to Thunderdrums.
There was much shopping done today. Several of the stores in town had exceptionally good meat sales, so Sanctuary stocked up on meat today.
Puppy wound up with 50 sentences this evening for lying. She had to use my bathroom because the other one was occupied. OK, fine, not a problem. She came out of my room in a small cloud of scented baby powder. Keep in mind that, after she tried smuggling stuff out of my bathroom a few months ago, she was told not to mess with anything in there. I walked into my room to see if she had indeed messed with the baby powder and -
WOAH! When my throat started burning three feet from the bathroom door, I retrieved the Puppy. I asked her if she'd used any of the baby powder in my bathroom. She said no. I sniffed her, and tried to keep my throat from closing. I ordered her to strip, so as to make sure of what I was already farily certain of. When she got to her underwear, she suddenly burst out with, "Wait! I forgot! I used baby powder in the bathroom at school!"
There was an inch-thick layer of baby powder on the inside of her underwear, and I am fairly certain that her school does not have lavender and chamomile scented baby powder on the backs of the toilets. Puppy went straight into the bathtub, as the baby powder was in my batroom because
catchild is almost lethally allergic to it. When
catchild got home an hour later, the whole affair was related to her. Consensus: 50 sentences, 'I will always tell the truth.'
-sigh- She's gotten bad enough in regards to lying of late that we've taken to double-checking everything she says, becasue that's just about the only way we know to be sure if she's telling the truth or not. I'm not sure what, if anything we can do to encourage her to drop this incredibly bad habit. Suggestions are hereby solicited.
