New Year's Eve

omimouseWell, it's been a long and interesting year. We moved, the family fell apart and rebuilt itself into something stronger, we got two new cats, we lost two cats, we all got a year older . . .
For me personally, I got stronger. I am not merely a mouse, I am also a wolverine, which is something about myself that I hadn't known before. I am learning how to defend myself, I am learning that those around me are probably going to actually stay, I am learning to let my walls down, I am learning how to not go scurrying off to hide in the nearest hole when those around me are irritated, I am learning that love can be more than a a tool to be used to manipulate, I am learning that I am worth something, I am learning how to heal, I am learning how to be something more than a shadow of those around me.
I am learning that being just me, with no pretenses, is the most wonderfully freeing feeling imaginable. I have been happier this past year, even with all the hell that happened, then I have ever been in my entire life. I have found my family, and together, we have found home.
