Random bits and pieces
Aug. 22nd, 2007 04:34 pmWe had the joy and fun of a power outage yesterday, a few hours after Bear-Cub got home from school. Considering the heat, we wound up fleeing to Columbia for dinner and some of the shopping we needed to do anyway.
But ye gods, when 5 minutes without AC = 3 degree temp raise inside the house? Ouch.
In other news, we are considering acquiring a kitten. Bear-Cub's cat at her mom's house is staying there for a number of reasons, one of them being that introducing an adult cat into the household is something that I'd really rather not do. We have resources for one more cat, and the Cub has expressed much interest. It'll be a while, in any case.
warinbear is building me a spice rack (squeee!) and bookshelves (deafening sounds of joy) so that we can organize things better. And get all the books on shelves.
And it looks like I'm going to need to go bra shopping again in a few months. The ones I have right now are a tad on the loose side, and I measured in at 38DD a few days ago. This is a slight decrease in band size. Likely, there will be much fitting and checking before I settle on whatever new size I am. Which is not something I am doing in this heat. The lights in changing rooms are hot enough as it is.
Bear-Cub appears to be settling in just fine. Her moodiness has all but vanished, to the point that some of her friends are having trouble recognizing her back. I'm pretty damn glad myself to see her returning to cheerful and generally happy.
Now, if the heat wave would just finish breaking, we'd be just dandy.
