omimouse: Beatirx Potter mouse with a wicker basket on her arm (Domestic)
So, with everything that had been going on, the three of us weren't really expecting closing to happen today. [livejournal.com profile] warinbear went up to bed last night/this morning at about his usual time nowadays (2 AM). [livejournal.com profile] louisadkins and I tend to stay up later anyway, but we got distracted by other stuff. So, when we looked at the clock and it said 6 AM, we figured we'd just stay up another 2 1/2 hours and call folks and see what was going on with our closing.

Called folks, talked, got promises to call back when it was scheduled, and went up to bed at around 9. I was washing my face and other pre-bed stuff; Louis was in bed, pulling the blankets up over him when the phone rang. He grabbed it, talked for a bit, and then told me, looking somewhat amused, "Closing's today." "When?" "10:30. AM"

Lots of stuff at the title office later (including where the title lady had to poke the bank to fax her the *rest* of the package) lots of signing paperwork which Louis is convinced has a clause mandating him to dance naked in front of the President while singing "Happy Birthday", and about2 or so hours later, we were (and still are) officially homeowners.

-deep breath-

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We then got back to the house, turned in 60 days notice at the office (required by lease, and it'll give us extra time if we need it to get everything transferred, the apartment cleaned, and so on) ate lunch (thank you, Warin!), and then Warin headed off to work while Louis and I headed upstairs and passed the fuck out.

The next 30 days are going to involve packing (as the current rennants in the house have up to 30 days to move out) and shopping around for the appliances and furniture we'll be needing. (A kitchen table and chairs, for starters. I vote we stable a neighbourhood kid for the lawn.)

But yeah, it's ours now. I am very, very happy and giddy, and am greatly looking forward to setting up in the new place.

Woot! My very first mortgage! I are in debt! . . . and doing happy dances about it; the adult world is a strange place.
