New hard drive got here yesterday (bloody hell, I like that delivery time) and was slotted in.

Installing Windows was looking hairy, and then Louis ran a memory test. Hello, one of the brand spanking new (as in, less than a month old) memory sticks is bad! (It will be getting exchanged after the trial next week.) So I'm back down to 1GB of RAM for a few weeks, but my computer is up and running! Currently installed, in order of install after the OS: Firefox, Avast, WoW, addons for Firefox, addons for WoW, Yahoo Messenger.

And yeah, hard drive was dead as dead can be. To the point of making little noises when getting moved.

I need to rebuild my bookmark, document, and art folders now.

Having somewhat survived a memory takeover of my 'puter last year, one thing I recommend is a word page with all of your links on it somewhere in your files.

As it is, right now, the "Favorites" function does not work on the MSN carrier and I really can't abide the IE carrier, so I have to do a C&P for each site I want to visit. Mildly irritating, but not as bad as one would think.

Advantage is that I can keep seldom used bookmarks and not have to futz with the "Favorites" dropdown.

There's a plugin for Firefox that will save all your bookmarks server-side. It's great if you have computer problems frequently or have multiple machines (my issue -- I have both a desktop and a laptop). It's called XMarks.

Firefox is a much better browser anyway. ;)

All well and good, but Firefox does not want to load on my 'puter. The guy from Geek Squad was puzzled by that as well.

So, until I can afford a new 'puter*, I am SOL on a lot of functions.

*Which will be the 12th of Never, unless we start getting more hits and donations at Make A Wish Upon Tomorrow (http://ladyqkat.wordpress.com/) and The Roman View (http://ladyqkat1.wordpress.com/) and other stories as we put them up.

It may have something to do with The Memory Virus That Ate My Computer.
