WoW

The slurping noise you hear would be World of Warcrack claiming another gamer.

Yanaba, currrently a 3rd level Tauren Shaman, lives out on the Akama server. I am seriously loving on the shaman abilities.

Am now in the process of hooking Louis through the guest pass.

I'd say come to Aggramar and the Tribe, but currenly new characters can't be created there unless you already have a toon there. My boss got me hooked, and I got [livejournal.com profile] born_to_me and [livejournal.com profile] _stag playing. We've got a few characters around level 30, and then I've got a level 51 Undead Rogue.

If it wasn't for the seeing you and a few other people playing the game, I would actually be turned off by the guest pass. I have been waiting for two hours for the server to log me on, and it keeps bumping me back. Probably due to it being free. How do they expect someone to get interested, if you can't play the game?

That's more due to the server than anything. Pick a different realm, preferrably one with population listed as "Low". I know that when I see queues of 400+ on Alleria (my main realm), I can almost always log into Gurubashi without a queue.

If you're waiting 2hrs to play... you're on a highly populated server. This is especially noticable on the weekend when populations double or more.

It's nothing to do with it being a free pass. A lot of the servers are clogged. I've gotten queues over 800 regularly on Frostmourne (though that seems to have gone down since they added a second oceanic pvp server), and, like Storme mentioned, Alleria for about 400 - 500.

I've played on other servers, though, where there *isn't* a queue. Ever. Not even on weekends.

So, if you're just starting out, might shuffle around a bit and find one that's not so overpopulated. :-\

Hmm..

Omi, who has a registered copy, was able to log on and get in within a couple minutes, even if she started higher than me in the queue. It would start me down the queue, and then it would bump me back up, and down, and up, and down. I went from 165 to 109 (spiking back two or three for every five I went down) and then went back up to 145. Omi was able to log in and out with relative quickness. (Same server, same time that I was trying to log in.) I actually let the computer sit there and try to log in for too long... *g*

Oh, and the server is one of the 'new' servers, I think, - the queue got up to about 250, at one point, that I saw. I don't know how that is comparatively for population.

We figured the weekends would be packed, but thanks for verifying.

...and yes, it is addictive...

I've had it spike on me like that, too, I'm pretty sure. Not entirely sure why. Usually I minimise the game, do other stuff, and check it every half hour or so. :P

The new servers are almost always going to be packed. One, some of them have gotten characters transferred from larger realms. Also, there's a lot of people that jump on new servers when they're created. (Especially if you're on PVP... less higher-level players to gank you.)
